El Economista: Poland’s economy is a powerhouse, as witnessed by the Spanish property market

The Spanish daily El Economista pointed out that Poles are 'buying up the Costa del Sol’, taking advantage of the economic boom in Poland. It also stressed that our economy is a powerhouse, as witnessed by the Spanish property market. This is confirmed by the latest figures from Registradores de España for Q3 2025.

What will you read about in this note?

How many houses and flats in Spain did Poles buy in 2025?

More than 80,000 Poles arrived in Spain between 1990 and 2008, and today, official figures indicate between 55,000 and 56,000 of our compatriots living in the country, the Spanish business daily reminds us. The number of Poles in the Iberian Peninsula is even indicated at over 100 thousand – depending on the methodology – taking into account tax residents or registered residents. According to 'El Economista’, Poland’s economy is a powerhouse, making our country the 'new Germany’ in terms of real estate market share, and Polish investors are 'buying up the Costa del Sol’.

In the third quarter of 2025, the share of Poles in the ranking of foreign investors was 4.63%, moving up to 8th place. The number of properties purchased by our compatriots in Spain reached 1,087 in this period, and has already reached 3,170 since the beginning of 2025. This is more than in the same period of 2024, when there were 3,101 transactions, and also more than in the whole of 2023 (3,118 transactions).

Costa del Sol real estate not just for billionaires

The daily newspaper El Economista points out that it is the Poles who are recording the largest increase in share of the Spanish property market among foreign buyers. Between Q1 and Q3 2025, it increased by a total of 0.73 p.p. – according to data from Registradores de España. CaixaBank, on the other hand, highlights that the volume of transactions performed by our compatriots has increased almost 7 times since the pandemic – from 0.7% in 2020 to 4.7% in 2024. This gave the Poles 5th place in the ranking, allowing them to overtake Sweden and France.

Interestingly, Spain’s Costa del Sol rather than France’s Côte d’Azur is also chosen by Polish billionaires – for its climate, lower costs – including property purchase and maintenance, and taxes. It is this part of the Sun Coast that is famous for the most luxurious villas, penthouses and flats – 10 of the 14 most expensive addresses in Spain are located here. At the same time, affordable offers from €350,000 can also be found in this region.
