A change in the regulations governing short-term (so-called holiday) rentals in Spain is resulting in the removal of thousands of listings without a tourist licence number. However, property owners with such a licence can rest assured, according to a study by law firm LTA (Lukasz Tkaczyk & Asociados).
This is because, according to the new interpretation of the regulations, the tourist licence applies to the property, not to the owner. Thus, subsequent purchasers of a property that already has a tourist licence number are also in an advantageous situation. In the pages of Business Insider, Agnieszka Marciniak-Kostrzewa, together with Łukasz Tkaczyk of the LTA law firm, explained:
- the scope of the April amendment to the regulations concerning so-called holiday rentals,
- What the recent resolution changes for property owners and purchasers,
- How to carry out the procedure for changing the owner of a tourist licence.
